Body brushing is a quick and powerful way to start your daily self care routine having numerous beneficial effects to mind, body and skin.

STIMULATING
Brushing helps to stimulate the lymphatic system, kickstarting our metabolism to help eliminate the build up of toxins, bacteria and waste. This also helps to strengthen our immune system in the long term and can improve the overall feel and appearance of our skin, especially areas prone to cellulite, such as the legs and bottom.

EXFOLIATING
A natural alternative to scrubs which often use synthetic ingredients, brushing helps to even out skin tone. By sloughing away dead skin cells, it sweeps away dead and dull skin for a fresh feel and glow. It also acts to prime the skin for easier and more efficient application and absorption of oils and serums.

CELL TURNOVER
Brushing encourages healthy cell turnover and helps to prevent ingrowing hairs which can lead to inflammation and blocked pores. Stimulating cells with energised strokes prompts them into activity, boosting our healing and rejuvenating ability and clearing away irritants and dead cells. This has the immediate effect of creating smoother, softer skin.

CIRCULATION BOOSTING
By stimulating the skins surface with a good rub, blood is encouraged to move around the body and drawn to the very extremities of our skin. This increased flow is wonderful for clearing toxins, supporting lymphatic drainage, boosting metabolism and extending our energy for the day.

INVIGORATION
The buffing action of body brushing alerts the nerve endings in our skin, leaving us with renewed sensitivities to the sensation of touch - perfect before a sensual, hot shower.

MIND-BODY CONNECTION
When we pay attention to every part of our body on a daily basis, even if it is only for a few minutes, we are making a positive mind-body connection which can help us to appreciate our bodies more and observe any changes.

DIRECTIONS
Starting from your feet up - including the soles of your feet if you can - make swift, steady and gentle strokes up your body, always working in the direction of your heart. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes so try and build up to incorporating it into your daily morning routine. If it’s easier for you to do in the shower than do so, but we recommend dry body brushing for the most effective results. After your shower or bath, apply a nourishing body oil for silky soft skin.
